Gloomy

It's gloomy and raining. A perfect time to stay in bed and do nothing. Then, get up, get a nice hot coffee or chocolate, listen to music, read a good book or watch TV.

Are you in a gloomy state of your faith? Where you just want to snuggle and do nothing?

As Christians we should not be stagnant and lazy in our faith. Everyday is an opportunity to learn and know more about Jesus. The more we come to know Him, the more we understand Him and the more we became like Him. Knowing God's heartbeat should be our focus.

As I was browsing my journal last night, I saw an old notes which says "Make it your ambition to know God intimately". Great point. While we are busy with our everyday responsibilities at work or at home, we should not forget to include God in everything. I believe that when we do this, we are choosing to make our lives easier since we are not alone - Ecclesiastes 4:9-12.

What should I do then?

1. Get up! -
Yes. No one can do it but you. You have to decide and make it happen. And if you are going to think about it, you really don't need a pastor, teacher, doctor or guru to help you do it. All you need is a decision. Just like that invalid man mentioned in John 5. His faith healed him. If he didn't follow Jesus when He told him to "get up and walk" - John 5:8, he will not be healed. Decide just like the time when you turn away from your sin and follow Jesus.
2. Get a nice hot coffee/chocolate
Get help. Perhaps you have been away from a godly fellowship, skipped reading the bible and even forgot to pray. All these are essential to keep you connected with God. I've known a lot of people who get tired with their ministry and stopped serving the Lord. Life can be pointless if we do things for ourselves. Reconnect yourself with God. He is the fire that can keep our faith warm - Hebrews 12:29, "God is a consuming fire."

3. Listen to music.
Rhythm. Make it a habit to have a constant time with the Lord. And as they say, make worship your lifestyle. Always inquire of the Lord in all your actions. And believe me, God is interested even in the smallest detail of your life. He wants to get involve so don't restrict Him. The moment we say to God, "Lord, I know you've had enough, so please don't stress yourself with this petty things that I do." When you do this, you start to build walls between you  and God.

Remember to always be faithful with small things while believing on great things from the Lord. Keep the rhythm.

4. Read a good book or watch a movie
True enough that it is easier said than done. In Psalm 34:8 it says, "Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him". Once we experience the joy of being in a journey with God, walking with Him will be like reading your favorite book or watching your favorite movie to the nth time. Interesting, exciting, joyful, etc.

No one is exempted to this feeling. We all have our own ups and downs in our Christian walk. There is time for everything - Ecclesiastes 3. But what is important is that we acknowledge it and do something about it. Immediately!

So, get up!
